| Centre County Library and Historical Museum The Pennsylvania Room of the Library houses a large collection that focuses on Centre County and Pennsylvania history and genealogy. It includes a specialized collection of over 3000 volumes devoted exclusively to these topics, in addition to original Centre County records, newspapers, vertical files, and various historical and genealogical periodicals. An online catalog is available for the Pennsylvania Room and Centre County Library, as well as other Centre County public libraries. | Penn State University Libraries The Penn State University Libraries on the Penn State Campus, also known as Pattee Library and Paterno Library, do not have a separate genealogy room, but they do have a large number of resources that are of use to genealogists. Pattee has the census films, with all available indexes, for Pennsylvania as well as many valuable county and church histories. From about 1893 through 1905, birth and death records were kept by the counties. Contact the appropriate county for additional information. Marriage records begin in the mid-1880’s, and are not available from the state. They are kept by the county where the license was issued. |
